This five-day safari through Tanzania’s stunning Northern Circuit will offer a wonderful perspective on the country’s extraordinary wildlife and landscapes. The safari will begin with the mighty Tarangire, followed by the world-renowned Serengeti, and conclude with the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which boasts an incomparable crater.
A staff member of In Africa Link will pick you up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and you be taken to the Gran Meliá Hotel in Arusha for the night. There you will be provided with the safari tour briefing.
Depart from Arusha after breakfast for a two-hour journey to Tarangire National Park, where you’ll encounter the vibrant colors and character of Tanzania along the way. Enjoy an informative safari drive through the expansive savannah of Tarangire, known as the ‘Elephant Playground,’ and home to a variety of wildlife including buffalo, lions, zebras, and gazelles. Keep an eye out for unique species like kudu, oryx, agama lizards, and the hyrax. After a long safari drive and picnic lunch, head to the cooler Ngorongoro highlands for dinner and an overnight stay at Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge.
After breakfast, set off for the stunning Serengeti National Park, a 166 km journey taking around 3 ½ hours. By late morning, arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and embark on a safari drive through this celebrated park, known for its vast wildlife and breathtaking scenery. Your amazing driver-guide will help you spot lions, leopards, elephants, zebras, cheetahs, and antelope, among other species. After the safari drive, enjoy some rest, a delicious evening meal, and an overnight stay at Meliá Serengeti Lodge.
Following breakfast, embark on a morning safari drive in the awe-inspiring Serengeti, observing its diverse wildlife. The Seronera area in Central Serengeti, with its year-round waterflow from the Seronera River, is a hotspot for wildlife sightings, including lions, hippos, and herds of elephants. Visit the informative Serengeti Visitor Center to learn about the park’s ecosystem and conservation history, including the efforts of Bernhard Grzimek and the Frankfurt Zoological Society. After lunch, travel southeast towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through Serengeti’s vast plains and iconic landmarks like Simba Kopjes. Arrive at Naabi Hill Gate for stunning views over the plains and a chance to explore the visitor center. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Ngorongoro Lion’s Paw Camp.
After breakfast at Ngorongoro Lion’s Paw Camp, depart at 6 AM to reach the rim of the crater and descend into its vast expanse. The Ngorongoro Crater features Lerai Forest and nearby swamplands, known as the ‘elephant graveyard,’ where elderly tuskers feed on soft grasses. The crater hosts a rich diversity of wildlife including 120 lions, 15,000 wildebeest, 9,000 zebras, 400 hyenas, and approximately 50 black rhinos. Resident and migratory herds benefit from year-round water sources, with buffalo, serval, jackals, Thomson’s gazelle, eland, and hippos also present. Colorful birdlife, including flamingos at Lake Magadi, adds to the spectacle. After a morning safari tonight. The 5-day Tanzania Luxury Safari concludes in Arusha at 17:00 hrs. for next-day departures, additional accommodation and appropriate flight bookings are necessary.
