After an early breakfast, descend to the crater floor for a 5-hour safari drive, where you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, and many birds. Bird species include eagles, vultures, flamingos in the Crater Lake, storks, bats, sacred ibis, kori bustards, blacksmith plovers, long-necked herons, and cattle eagles. After a picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, begin a steep ascent to the top exit of the crater. With a 2-hour drive to your accommodation in Karatu, the day will come to a close.
